Self Tanning Tips

We’ll admit it, self-tanning can be scary. Especially for first timers, fair skinned users, and anyone unfamiliar with the color guide. These are some simple tips to ensure a perfectly even, glowing tan with every application of Swell Skin Self-Tanner.

Tan Last

Before applying Swell Skin Self Tanner, complete all desired treatments. This is everything from head to toes, including:

  • Manicure/Pedicure
  • Hair Cut/Color/Wash
  • Waxing/Shaving

Exfoliate

Swell Skin works best on clean, dry, and freshly exfoliated skin. Be sure to exfoliate your entire body and slough off any dry or flaky patches. Remember to focus on areas that are generally more dry like; knees, elbows, and heels.

To exfoliate your face use a cleanser with glycolic acid or a facial cleansing brush to remove dead skin. Avoid any face washes and lotions that are oil based!

Dry Off

Dry your skin completely before applying Swell Skin Self Tanner. Swell Skin Self Tanner goes on smoothest and dries the most quickly when skin is 100% dry.

Block Over Saturation

Areas that are traditionally more dry tend to absorb extra product, apply a lightweight barrier lotion to areas like ankles, knuckles, and elbows. Ensure the cream you choose is oil free.

Start at the Bottom

Starting at your ankles, apply Swell Skin Self Tanner using a self-tan application mitt or gloves. In small circular motion  work your way up your legs and all the way up to your shoulders. Apply to your hands and feet last.

PRO TIP: Use a kabuki brush to apply self tanner to your hands and feet for an even tan across the entire surface.

Seal it!

Swell Skin is a quick drying formula designed to leave your skin feeling smooth and ready to go in just 5-10 minutes. After the product is applied and dry, apply a translucent setting powder to areas in which your skin may touch or rub; behind the knees, mid arm, armpits, etc.
